Even as the standoff on the Mahanadi issue between Odisha and Chhattisgarh continues with no immediate solution in sight, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the State Assembly Narasingha Mishra on Friday lashed out at the Central Government and the State’s ruling BJD over their stands on the issue.
Mishra said the Centre is shamelessly flouting the law by not forming a tribunal to resolve the controversial issue. In the Lok Sabha on Thursday, it seemed the BJP and the BJD had a friendly discussion.
During the discussion between the Union Water Resources Minister and the BJD members it seemed from their body language that they were having a cordial discussion on the issue.
He alleged that the BJD has failed to take up the issue in the right earnest and protect the interests of the State.
Similarly, BJP leader Bijay Mahapatra said Odisha has already been affected by the Mahanadi issue.
The BJD’s stand on the issue is not clear.
