Founded in 1997 in Changzhou, China, Trina Solar delivers photo voltaic (PV) products, applications and services. The company, with numerous branches in the USA, Europe and Asia, is listed on the PPVX solar share index and the NYSE. Over the years, Trina Solar has developed a vertically integrated supply chain, from the production of ingots, wafers and cells to the assembly of high quality modules. The company, with over 14, 280 employees, has shipped solar modules with a total output of 11 GW until the end of 2014. In the fiscal 2014 a total of 3.66 GW have been shipped, making Trina Solar the top PV module supplier globally.

Trina Solar now sells its products in more than 70 countries and has offices in Beijing, Madrid, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Zurich, Mexico City and San Jose to name a few. As of 2015, the company has been shipping at least 1 GW per quarter. Collectively, Trina modules around the world are displacing over 27 million tonne of carbon dioxide.

This makes it the largest solar module supplier in the world and earned it the 19th spot on the '2016 Global Top 500 New Energy Enterprises'. Currently, the company is pioneering development in Smart PV Energy and Energy Internet Solutions. It was first listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2006.

Awards and achievements
Trina Solar has received a top rating in the latest module bankability report, published by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF). After having obtained the top spot among all its industry peers in the previous 2016 report, Trina Solar has become the first company to receive Client Test Data Program (CTDP) certification from UL. Trina Solar has also filed over 1,350 PV patents out of which 784 patents have been approved. The company also broke the solar cell efficiency world record seven times in one year. Till date, the State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology has broken 16 world records on solar cell efficiency and module power.
