Lady Lions soccer notches second victory, Lions dealt first defeat

KENNEDALE — The Brownwood Lady Lions bounced back from their first loss of the season with their second victory in three outings at the Kennedale tournament, 4-0 over Paris Friday afternoon.

Aleyia Cotton scored two more goals for the Lady Lions, giving her five through three games, while Carly Person and Maddy Garza added their first goals of the season.

Taylar Kinzler, who scored twice Thursday, tallied three assists while Miranda Guerrero was credited with the fourth.

The Lady Lions (2-1) — who defeated Wichita Falls Hirschi, 5-0, and lost to Kennedale, 1-0 — conclude tournament action at 11:30 a.m. Saturday against Bryan Rudder.

 

Lockhart 6, Lions 1

 

GEORGETOWN — Coming off a 3-1 victory over New Summerfield in the season opener, the Brownwood Lions were dealt their first loss, 6-1, by Lockhart Friday at the Georgetown tournament.

The Lions surrendered goals in the 15th, 16th and 17th minutes of the first half to Lockhart before Enrique Hernandez scored off an assist from Braden Bushnell in the 20th minute.

Trailing 3-1 at intermission, the Lions gave up three more goals in the second half in the fourth, 12th and 16th minutes.

The Lions (1-1) will attempt to bounce back in their tournament finale at 4 p.m. Saturday against Salado
