Boys basketball roundup: Pandora-Gilboa edges Arlington

PANDORA — In a Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball matchup where points were at a premium, Pandora-Gilboa used a three-point advantage at the free-throw line to eke out a 30-27 victory over Arlington on Friday.
The win leaves the Rockets tied with Van Buren and North Baltimore atop the BVC standings at 4-0. P-G is 8-1 overall, while Arlington fell to 5-4, 2-2.
Arlington gained a 9-8 lead after one quarter before Pandora-Gilboa used a 13-8 edge in the second as a springboard to the victory. Neither team scored in double figures in the second half.
The teams had the same number of field goals (Arlington 11 of 33; P-G 11 of 33), but the Red Devils went 2 of 5 at the free-throw line with the Rockets converting 5 of 12.
Drew Johnson’s double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds led P-G. Jacob Russell scored eight points, Jaret Vermillion and Ivan Berry seven each and Russell and Caleb Price each grabbed three rebounds for Arlington.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Unbeaten North Baltimore used a seven-point edge in the third quarter to stay atop the Blanchard Valley Conference with a 62-54 victory over Riverdale
The Tigers, now 6-0 overall, are tied with Van Buren and Pandora-Gilboa atop the league at 4-0. Riverdale drops to 1-10, 0-4.
North Baltimore, which jumped ahead 43-30 after three quarters and withstood a 24-point Riverdale fourth quarter, had four double figure scorers.
Levi Gazarek and Tyler Durfey each had 13 points for the Tigers with Julian Hagemyer and Chase Naugle adding 10 apiece. Brady Rader had a team-high nine rebounds, Hagemyer grabbed eight and Adam Flores and Noah Cotterman recorded three assists apiece.
Riverdale’s scoring punch came from Coby Miller (17 points) and Brock Davis (16). Davis finished with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Miller recorded four steals and Gage Murphy three assists.

Tanner Schroeder paced McComb (3-6, 2-2 BVC) with a game-high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Justin Wasson had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Koby Gustwiller scored eight points with seven rebounds.
Eric Ritter and Tommy Stauffer each scored eight points for Cory-Rawson (3-7, 2-2 BVC). The Hornets missed all 15 of their 3-point attempts.

Trevor Clifford popped in 18 points and Jason Holly chipped in 12 for the Rams.
Josh Crall led a trio of Wynford players in double figures with 19 points. Caleb Rausch popped in 14 points and Kevan Hughett added 10 for the Royals.

Stone bulled his way in the paint for a game-high 28 points and single-handedly outrebounded Bucyrus 15-14. Trey Bame also notched a double-double for the Blue Devils (9-2, 5-2 N10) with 10 points and 10 assists and Cody Luzader chipped in 17 points.
Ryan Evans popped in 19 points to lead the Redmen (1-9, 0-7). Kyle Hamm and Harley Robinson scored 15 apiece.

Spencer Harrison was 12 of 15 from the floor for a game-high 24 points for the Crimson Streaks (5-3). Chris Morrisette added 13 points and Tad Foster scored 12 points.
Nick Adams led Hardin Northern (0-9) with 15 points on 6 of 7 shooting from the floor. Lance Good had nine points and Brady Cramer added six points.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk blitzed Ridgedale 18-5 right out of the gate, led 38-19 at the half and rolled to a 67-38 win over the Rockets in a Northern 10 Conference boys basketball game Friday.
Zach Hayman scored 17 points and led a deep Mohawk attack. Ryan Lacey added 11 points Tyler and Austin Tusing both had eight, and Keith Jenkins, Kaiden Hammer and Kedryk Leeth all had six in helping the Warriors improve to 6-4 overall and 6-2 in the N10.
Ridgedale’s young team fell to 1-9 overall, 0-7 in the N10. Sophomore guard Clayton Lust led the Rockets with 13 points, freshman Adam Beard added eight and sophomore Sam Leach tossed in seven as the three underclassmen accounted for 28 of the team’s 38 total points.

LIMA — Owen Hiegel scored 18 points and Jay Kaufman added 15 to power unbeaten Ottawa-Glandorf to its ninth straight victory, a 61-46 Western Buckeye league decision against Lima Bath Friday night.
The victory leaves O-G 9-0 on the year and 2-0 in the WBL. Bath falls to 3-7, 0-2.
Ottawa-Glandorf also got 10 points from Ethan White and eight from Jake Dible.
