Kantatoli flyover work kicks off

After protests and surveys the first phase construction work of Kantatoli flyover project started today. According to Municipal Commissioner, Shantanu Kumar Agrahari, load testing task will be taken up to check out the feasibility at one of the busiest locations soon. The load testing task is likely to get complete within two weeks assessing different factors.

In the wake of initial preparedness, the administration has barricaded the area with metal sheets near Mangalam Tower. Also, accordingly the route diversion plan will be taken up in a while after consulting the transportation cell officials. The Town Commissioner stated that all essential recee work is likely to get complete in a week time. “Taking up the project in phase wise manner, once the load testing task gets over; route diversion plan will be hardly required. However, in consultation with all the agencies associated with the project, we are brainstorming on different facets. The load testing work will be taken up by a private agency from January 6,” said Agrahari.

The work of removing electricity poles, road widening work, diverting water pipelines has been already undertaken some time ago. The officials have been ordered to complete these work at the earliest. Construction work of pillars will be taken up in a month after assessing the report of transportation cell committee and recommendation of load testing team.

Meanwhile, perturbed with the move of the State government to initiate the construction work of flyover project without Social Impact Assessment (SIA), the residents of Kantatoli are again gearing up to stage a massive protest.

“In a day or two, we will stage a massive protest against the government’s decision. We are waiting for Jharkhand High Court (HC) decision on this issue. We will not give our land on any cost. More than 40 families have been cheated,” said president of Kantatoli Flyover Raiyat and Business Committee, Qaisar Hassan. Notably, the residents of Kantatoli had filed a petition in Jharkhand HC on December 5 and are hopeful that the decision will be given in their favour.
