CHICAGO — Danielle Brewer scored 17 points to lead the Bradley women's basketball team to a 59-57 Missouri Valley Conference victory on Friday night at Gentile Arena.
The Braves (8-5, 2-0) went on a 13-0 run in the first quarter, and led 18-5 when Madison Dellamuth hit a 3-pointer with 2:30 left in the period. The Ramblers (2-12, 0-3) scrapped back to get within 28-26 near the end of the second quarter.
Back-to-back buckets by Vanessa Markert and Brewer put BU up 35-26 after halftime. And Bradley held Loyola without a field goal for almost six minutes before the Ramblers went on a 7-point run to get within 57-54 with under a minute left in the game.
Tiara Wallace made a layup for the Braves, and Gabi Haack rebounded a BU miss. Brewer and Anneke Schlueter each split a pair of free throws to give Bradley some breathing room.
Markert finished with 15 points and three blocks. Abby Connor led the Ramblers with 13 points.
