Nolan made the comments in an appearance on Viceland’s late night show “Desus & Mero” earlier this week, after the show’s hosts joked about whether Trump was giving the “thumbs up” because it is a white supremacist symbol.
“That’s because he’s a (bleep),” Nolan said. “Back it up. Back it up. That’s because he is a f—king stupid person.”
The network recently issued new guidelines for employees regarding social media and political commentary, instructing them to avoid overt partisanship and inflammatory comments.
The guidelines were revised to be more stringent after SportsCenter host Jemele Hill was suspended for violating policy with controversial tweets suggesting that her followers should boycott Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones after he threatened to bench players who kneeled during the national anthem. Hill also called Trump a “white supremacist” in an earlier tweet.
Nolan has been with the network for three months.
