HARWINTON – Alfred “Al” Anthony Alexander, 92, of Harwinton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 with his family by his side at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington.
Alfred was born June 6, 1925 in Thomaston to Julius Alexander and Elizabeth (Zutautas) Alexander. Alfred was a proud World War II veteran and took great pride in his beloved family.
Alfred was a tool and die maker and owned his own business, Thomaston Midtown, for many years before selling and moving on to work for Owen Tool in Southington. Alfred enjoyed working and only retired a few years before his passing.
In his free time he enjoyed reading, fishing, being outdoors and the company of his family.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra Ella (King) Alexander, and his two daughters; the first, Sueann Elizabeth (Alexander) Ledoux, of Harwinton, and her husband Preston Lawrence Ledoux and their children, Alfred’s grandchildren, Alexander Lawrence Ledoux and Emilyse Sandra Ledoux; the second, Megan Jean Alexander of Northwood, N.H. and her partner Christopher Berger.
A memorial service will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington.
