How cold will it get? Records could be broken

The blizzard is over but an extended stretch of frigid weather has settled over New Jersey with dangerous wind chills well below zero.

Records are likely to fall and forecasters are warning residents not to underestimate the dangers. A wind chill advisory is in effect until noon Saturday for most of the state as winds will gust as high as 45 mph.

Wind chill advisory for New Jersey

Temperatures will remain well below freezing until at least Monday.

The National Weather Service warns that people who leave their skin exposed could get frostbite in just 30 minutes.

The wind chill advisory lasts until 10 a.m. Saturday in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union and Passaic. Wind chills will be in the -10 to -15 range overnight with single-digit temps.
