Police has said it will take five days to confirm that it was Case Clinic accountant Francis Ekalungat who was allegedly murdered and body burnt beyond recognition.

The body was discovered in Kajjansi on Wednesday along the Kampala-Entebbe Highway.

The suspected victim, Francis Ekalungar, was last seen driving out of his workplace on Buganda Road in Kampala to bank the hospital’s funds at around midday on Tuesday.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Luke Owoyesigire, said though the body has similar features to those of Ekalungar, police are still treating them as two different cases – one of Kajjansi as a murder and that of Ekalungar as of a missing person.

Police drew blood samples from two of Ekalungar’s children to confirm if they match with the DNA of the recovered body.

“Ekalungar’s wife and children viewed the charred body and they said it isn’t of their loved one, but his colleagues insist that it is him. There is doubt. So we have obtained samples from Ekalungar’s children to examine DNA and see if there is a match. It may take a week to get the results,” Owoyesigire said.
