Samsung Galaxy S8 users could be heading for disappointment with a phone that was released later on looking set to get the Android Oreo update next.

Android Oreo was released back in August last year, but plenty of smartphones are still waiting to make the jump from Android Nougat to 8.0.

The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are one of those devices which still are waiting for their update to Google’s latest mobile OS.

And, if one leak is accurate, another Samsung phone could be set to make the jump on the Galaxy S8 and get the Android Oreo 8.0 update next.

A Reddit user posted screenshots of the the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 running Android Oreo 8.0.

The pictures, picked up by GSMArena, suggests Samsung have started seeding Android Oreo 8.0 as a test.

And if all goes smoothly Samsung will begin their wider rollout later on.

Also on Reddit a change log for the upcoming Samsung update was published, showing what else is in store for users.

The update, labelled R16NW.N950FXXU2CRA1.DM, will also bring changes to the keyboard, picture in picture support and a new Android security patch.

The news comes after OnePlus owners moved a step closer to Android Oreo 8.0 this week.

The beta version of the Android 8.0 Oreo is available to download on the OnePlus 5T.

The update follows a similar beta release for OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 5 back in November 2017.

For OnePlus fans, it hopefully means a full Android Oreo 8.0 release isn’t far off.

Android Oreo 8.0 includes a slew of new features, including support for picture-in-picture video playback, Bluetooth 5.0 and wide colour gamuts.

Android Oreo also introduces notification dots on app icons, group notifications in the dropdown shade by customisable “channels”, and includes new battery-saving optimisations.

According to Google, the upgrade to Android Oreo will also increase start-up times when your smartphone is powered-off.
