ROCKFORD — The Community Foundation of Northern Illinois’ Community Grants Program recently awarded a $2,500 grant to the Artists’ Ensemble Theater for its production of “Best of Enemies.”
The grant was awarded with support from the Rod Macdonald memorial Theatre Endowment Fund.
“Best of Enemies” is based on the bestselling book by Osha Gray Davidson and tells the true story of the relationship between C.P. Ellis, a Grand Cyclops of the KKK, and Ann Atwater, a black civil rights activist, during the desegregation of schools in Durham, North Carolina, in 1971.
