Nina M. Phares, 92, passed away on Dec. 27, 2017
Nina M. Phares, 92, went to be with her Heavenly Father, the angels, her loving husband and family members on Dec. 27, 2017.
On Nov. 11, 1925 Andy and Nellie (Dougherty) Elliott of Hardesty, Okla., were blessed with the birth of their daughter Nina Mae, the 10th of 11 children. The family later moved to the Covington, Okla. area, where Nina grew up on the family farm. She married her high school sweetheart, Wilford E. Phares on June 29, 1945. They lovingly enjoyed nearly 67 years of marriage, living almost 60 years in El Dorado. While Wilford was serving in WWII, she also served her country as a “Rosie Riveter”. She was a faithful member of the El Dorado First Christian Church, a CWF President, circle leader and Victory Class member. She and Wilford enjoyed traveling for many years in their camper, boating, fishing, square dancing, playing cards and the Monday evening dinner and game night with friends. She also delivered Meals on Wheels, was a “Pink Lady” at SBA and was a long time Senior Ambassador. Nina’s faith inspired her beautiful collection of angels.
Nina’s loving family includes: her daughter Linda Harris; grandson, Brent Harris; great granddaughter, Mya Harris, all of Wichita; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.
Nina is preceded in death by her husband, Wilford; grandson, Chad Harris; her parents and 10 siblings.
Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the El Dorado First Christian Church. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
