Belden-Larkin Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Leavenworth has been purchased by another local funeral home.

The sale was confirmed by Kent Leintz, one of the owners of R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, which purchased Belden-Larkin.

Leintz said both of the Leavenworth funeral homes will remain in operation.

"We're trying to let them both have their independent identities," he said.

He said R.L. Leintz will be supporting Belden-Larkin, but he hopes people feel their choices for funeral services in Leavenworth are not being limited.

According to its website, Belden-Larkin Funeral Home and Cremation Services can trace its history back to the establishment of a Leavenworth undertaking business around the year 1862. Several name changes and mergers have followed over the years.
