POSITION AVAILABLE: Assistant/ Associate/Full Professor of Anatomic Pathology (tenure track appointment)

QUALIFICATIONS: The Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis is seeking exceptional candidates for an opening in veterinary anatomic pathology. The position requires a DVM/VMD degree or equivalent, a PhD degree, and board certification in the American College of Veterinary Pathology or European College of Veterinary Pathology. Postdoctoral or equivalent experience is preferred. Candidates should have a documented record of scholarship. Enthusiasm for research in areas that integrate well with the research strengths in the department and related groups on the University of California, Davis campus is required. Current strengths include infectious disease pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, comparative oncology, one health, musculoskeletal biology, GI health, regenerative medicine and comparative immunology and immunopathology. Evidence of having strong potential for success or documented success in securing extramural support for research is required. Aptitude/experience in teaching in the graduate and/or professional curriculum is preferred. Leadership or the potential for leadership in the field of anatomic pathology is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching: 1) teaching students in the DVM, undergraduate, and/or graduate academic curriculum; and 2) mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Opportunities for clinical teaching and service in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) and participation in the graduate clinical (resident) training program of the VMTH are available. A demonstrated commitment to innovative teaching methods and to the training of veterinary or other biomedical scientists is preferred.
Research: Development of a creative and productive research program in relevant fields of interest is a fundamental requirement of the position, including publication of results in high quality, peer-reviewed scientific journals. The successful applicant is expected to have and sustain extramural funding and direct research programs involving professional students, residents, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
Service: The University of California has a system of shared governance. Active participation in committees, professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate outlets is required. The department has a mentoring program in place and participation in the program is expected.
