After Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announcing ex-gratia payment of Rs 50 lakh to the family of constable Ankit Tomar, who died during an encounter in Shamli on Wednesday, the Bulundshahr police eliminated a notorious robber in an exchange of fire on Thursday.
SSP Bulundshahr, Muniraj said that the robber along with an accomplice looted Rs 10.60 lakh at Syana Road locality on Wednesday. A police team intercepted the two suspects at Walipura Canal after which the miscreants opened fire at the police. In the ensuing exchange of fire, one of the robbers— Satvir— was killed but his aide fled the spot.
“Satvir was carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head and had nine cases of dacoity and loot registered against him,” the SSP said.
Earlier, constable Ankit Tomar who sustained bullet injuries in an encounter in Shamli on Wednesday, died in a hospital in Noida late on Wednesday night. Tomar hailed from Wajidpur village of Baghpat. In the encounter, wanted criminal Sabir was felled near Jandhedi village of Shamli.
