4th IU convocation Sunday

The 4th and largest convocation of Islamic University (IU) campus in Kushtia will be held on Sunday through gorgeous arrangement, festivity and peaceful atmosphere amid tight security.

President M Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the University, will preside over the convocation while University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan will address here as the special guest.

Famous science fiction writer Professor Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) will address the convocation speech when IU vice chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari will deliver the welcome speech.

Over 9,300 graduates, post graduates and MPhil-PhD researchers of the university will attend the convocation. Some 81 post graduates will get President Gold Medal from the function for their outstanding academic results among the faculties.

Marking the convocation, the university was decorated into a new look with a pompous stage while all the academic-administrative buildings, residential halls, monuments and roads of the campus are also assumed beauty.

University Proctor Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman said the security system has been strengthened with the assistance of law enforcement personnel including PGR, SSF, DGFI, RAB, DSB, NSI, police while the university authority installed Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera to ensure 24 hours proper safety for the convocation ceremony.

Besides, President also the Chancellor of the university M Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the internal infrastructural development of the university including Bangabandhu Mural, Sheikh Russell Hall, second phase of Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall and an amazing fountain by laying down the foundation stone on the day.

Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari said all the preparations have already been completed to hold the ceremony peacefully.

All teachers, officers and staffs along with law enforcement personnel are being tried hard to complete the function with grand success, he added.
