Losing a passport can be a stressful experience, especially if it happens during a holiday.
Normally, travellers will have to get an Emergency Travel Document to make their way home, something which can be an expensive additional cost.
There is one spot that people tend to lose their passport the most, be it abroad or in the UK.
It is also the same in most countries.

According to gov.uk, roughly 10,000 passports a year are lost whilst on a night out at a club or a bar.
Many people use the document as a method of identification with people in their twenties most likely to use it.
It could also be due to people being inebriated and then losing or dropping it without realising.

Sarah Rapson, chief executive of the Identity and Passport Service, warned: “Your passport is not only increasingly attractive to fraudsters, but it will cost you at least £72.50 to replace, so it’s really important that you keep it safe both when you are at home and when you’re abroad.
She advises to “only carry your passport when it is absolutely necessary” as well as to “use alternatives to your passport if you need to prove your age".
Other ID methods include a driving license that has photo ID on it.

To replace a passport, it can cost £72.50 and take as long as three weeks to be delivered.
There are quicker ways to get it but it comes at a cost with next day delivery being as much as £128.
If a passport is lost abroad, an Emergency Travel Document is often given at the countries embassy which can only be used to travel back to the home country.
A new passport will then need to be purchased.
