Do men or women cheat more? Survey reveals which gender is most unfaithful

A CHEATING wife or husband is likely to spell doom for a marriage. Likewise, your relationship isn’t likely to last if your boyfriend or girlfriend has been caught cheating. But do men or women cheat more?

Cheating was rife in 2017, according to one website that facilitates extramarital dating for married people.

The website IllicitEncounters.com had its busiest year so far and over 120,000 people joined the site.

Are men or women more likely to be looking for extramarital affairs on the site?

According to website sign ups women are more likely to seek out affairs online, with 54 per cent of new sign ups being made by women.

However, the majority (31 per cent) were 31 to 40, while 22 per cent were between the ages of 41 to 50.

A similar trend was seen among men, with 26 per cent being between the ages of 21 to 30. The majority were slightly older than women, however, with 35 per cent ranging between 41 to 50 years old.

Thirty per cent were 31 to 40 years old, and 18 per cent were 51 to 60.

Cheating: Women are likely to be looking for extramarital affairs online

If you're dating a man between the ages of 41 to 50 or a woman between 31 to 40, then you're officially in the danger zone and more likely to be cheated on than anyone else.

The site’s spokesperson, Christian Grant, explains the significance of the findings: "The two biggest takeaways are that the average age of adulterers seem to be getting younger each younger, and the ratio of men and women is edging quickly towards the latter.

"We can deduce that more and more people are rushing into marriage prematurely. Whether that's because they want to keep up with the Jones', financial reasons, or something else entirely, is difficult to say.

"With regards to the sharp increase in female adulterers, we can confidently say that the idea of the 21st century woman is the driving force behind this increase.

Women are more financially secure and less dependent on men than ever before, and they're more likely to go out and get what they want.

"Evidently, that includes a tumultuous affair."

Why do women really cheat? Fourteen per cent of women claimed that they slept with someone else to get back at their partner, while only 9 per cent of men stated the same reason.

Another study claimed that one of the reasons why women cheat is that they are not being given enough gifts by their partner.
