400 gallons of jet fuel spilled at Eglin

EGLIN — Approximately 400 gallons of Jet-A fuel spilled at Eglin Air Force Base early Friday.

The spill occurred at 7:45 a.m. in Building 92 after a switch box froze, activating fuel pumps and overfilling an underground storage tank, according to a press release from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Absorbents were put in place to soak up the spilled fuel and the Emergency Response Contractor have begun cleanup efforts, the press release said.
