Market Now: Auto stocks up; MRF, Eicher Motors jump 2%

NEW DELHI: Auto stocks Apollo Tyres (up 2.90 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 2.05 per cent), MRF (up 1.83 per cent), Eicher Motors (up 1.64 per cent) and Motherson Sumi Systems (up 1.60 per cent) were trading up in afternoon trade on Friday, keeping the Nifty Auto index in the green zone.
The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.76 per cent up at 11,933 around 01:25 pm (IST).
Shares of Bharat Forge (up 1.38 per cent), Exide Industries (up 1.17 per cent), Tata Motors (up 0.88 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.87 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 0.46 per cent) and TVS Motor Company (up 0.30 per cent) were also up.
Shares of Ashok Leyland (down 0.35 per cent) and Bosch (down 0.03 per cent) were marginally down around that time.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 34 points up at 10,539, while the BSE Sensex was 138 points up at 34,107.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.
Shares of Idea Cellular, YES Bank, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, NTPC, Tata Power, Bank of Baroda and Vedanta were among the most traded stocks on NSE.
In the Nifty 50 index, YES Bank, Adani Ports SEZ, Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance and Eicher Motors were among the top gainers.
However, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation, Hindalco Industries, UPL and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation were among the top losers.
The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.76 per cent up at 11,933 around 01:25 pm (IST).
