BHUBANESWAR: Both the Congress and BJD have slammed the Centre for ignoring Odisha's demand for a hike in the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy. Recently, the Centre rejected state's demand to hike MSP for paddy from Rs 1,550 to Rs 2,930 a quintal. OPCC president Prasad Harichandan on Thursday said such attitude exposed Narendra Modi government's lack of concern for farmers.

Dubbing the NDA government as 'anti-farmer', BJD on Thursday announced a 10-day protest schedule in 12 western and southern districts beginning Monday. Protests will be held in all blocks of Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Sonepur districts. tnn
