Missing remains of Rori Hache, whose torso was found in the Oshawa harbour, have been found.

Durham Regional Police said Friday that the 18-year-old’s body parts were located in a McMillan Dr. basement apartment on Dec. 29 along with a suspicious package. The package, which was identified as an explosive device, was rendered safe in a controlled explosion and a man was taken into custody.

Adam Jeffrey Strong, 45, was charged at the time with improper/indecent interference with a dead body.

Hache was last seen on Aug. 29. Her torso was found by fishermen on Sept. 11 floating near the waterfront.

“Results of the post-mortem were inconclusive as far as the cause of death,” Durham Regional Police said in a Sept. 13 release. “The death is suspicious and there is evidence of trauma to the victim.”

Hache’s mother told the Toronto Sun her daughter was expecting a child.

“In August, she told me she thought she was pregnant and Rori was determined to keep the baby. I told her to do another test but I supported her choice,” Shanan Dionne said.

“Since the day they pulled that … torso … out of the lake, I knew it was my daughter,” Dionne said in November.

“There is an animal on the loose … this goes so deep, the pain… I can’t stand it. I’ve never heard anything like this in my life. And it is your own child.”
