PM vouch for innovative ways for development of backward districts

modiPrime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that innovative ways should be applied for development of backward districts  in the country. He said that  the development of backward districts was imperative as regional imbalances should not be allowed to increase indefinitely.

Interacting with Collectors and Officers-in-charge of aspirational districts at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi, Mr Modi said, the first step is to convert the mindset of pessimism into optimism and success stories are vital to change the negative psyche and mindset.

The Prime Minister said, relative backwardness of some regions is an injustice to the people.

He stressed on all round and inclusive development saying that even in the states with strong development indicators there will be areas requiring greater push.

Mr Modi said, Government aims to bring forward such areas.

He said, banks were nationalized in the 60’s but that did not give the poor access to the banks.

He said, his government changed it through Jan Dhan Yojana and showed that when the people decide to bring a positive change, it is possible to achieve it.

The Prime Minister said, now it has been proved that it is possible to electrify villages at a record pace and build toilets in the cities as well as villages at a historic speed.

Mr Modi also urged the participants to find innovative ways to bring in change.

He said, the Government is focusing on identifying the aspirations of people of the districts which are lagging behind.

Mr Modi said, success can only be achieved through people’s participation.

He emphasized that there is limitless potential, limitless possibilities, and limitless opportunities in India.

He said, serving in the less developed districts may not be glamorous for officials but it will give an important platform to make a positive difference.

Saying that on 14th April the nation will celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Prime Minister called on people to devote the coming three months to pioneer innovation in the less developed districts and transform the lives of the poor.

He added that the effort to develop 115 backward districts, is in keeping with the vision of Dr. Ambedkar, who worked for the upliftment of the under-privileged.
