Demand among individual consumers for new cars fell 6.8 per cent in Britain last year and sales to business fleet purchasers slumped 4.5 percent, a trade industry body said on Friday.
Total new car registrations for 2017 fell 5.7 percent to 2.54 million due to confusion about the prospect of future diesel levies and bans and weakening business and consumer confidence in the wake of Brexit, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said.
