The opening day of the first Test between India and South Africa is turning out to be an exciting as the South African batsmen churned out runs almost freely while the Indian bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals. The first session saw Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar run through the top-order of the batting line-up as he removed Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar and Hashim Amla in quick succession to put the hosts on the back-foot. However, Faf du Plessis (62) and AB De Villiers (65) took the attack to the opposition and scored runs at a faster rate. However, post-lunch, the Indian bowlers bounced back in style and scalped four wickets to leave the Proteas wobbling. While the Indian bowlers halted the flow of runs and picked up wickets at regular intervals, Quinton de Kock (43) and Vernon Philander (23) scored at a faster run rate to help the hosts go past the 200-run mark.
