Four-Day India Industrial Fair 2018 – Industries with less than 40 workers taken out of the Factories Act, 1948 in Haryana

Chandigarh, Jan 5 – Haryana Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Nayab Singh said that with a view to facilitating small-scale industries in the state, the industries with less than 40 workers have been taken out of the purview of the Factories Act, 1948. Apart from this, the duration of overtime has been increased from 75 hours to 150 hours.
Mr Singh was speaking at the inaugural function of four-day India Industrial Fair 2018 being organised at Jaipur, Rajasthan.
He said that on the pattern of Make in India and Startup India programmes of the Central Government, the State Government was also promoting medium and small scale industries in the state. He said that more than 2,000 small-scale industries were located in Ambala and nearby areas whose products have demand globally. In order to promote such industries, the State Government had launched Haryana Enterprises Promotion Policy-2015.
The Minister said that the Central Government has been making successful efforts to promote industries. As a result of this, the development rate of about eight crore industrial units in the country was maximum during last more than one year with 6.8 percent. The State Government has set a target to impart skill training to about 17 lakh youth. For this, a Skill University has also been established in the state, he added.
