Rahul questions Modi govt on failure to bring Lokpal

rahul as president
AMN / New Delhi

Questioning Narendra Modi government for its failure to bring the Lokpal even after nearly four years of being in power, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the inability of the NDA to set up a Lokpal had exposed it’s claims during the Lok Sabha election of being the ‘defenders of democracy’ and ‘harbingers of accountability’.

In a post on social media, Mr Gandhi, posting on his Twitter account a tweet by Mr Modi in December 2013 lauding the then leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley for their proactive role in getting the Lokpal bill passed, said, ‘four years have passed and there is no Lokpal. The public is asking just one question. Till when will you resort to untruthful claims. Are the ‘defenders of democracy’ & ‘harbingers of accountability’ listening?’

In recent months, Mr Gandhi has been attacking the government on its failure on several fronts.
