Lower Salford holds reorganization meeting

LOWER SALFORD >> With the start of a new year, municipal government reorganization meetings were held Jan. 2.

In Lower Salford, Douglas Gifford was again chosen as chairman of the Lower Salford Township Board of Supervisors, with Douglas Johnson again vice chairman. The other board members are Philip Heilman, Keith Bergman and Christopher Canavan.

Joe Czajkowski is township manager and secretary/treasurer. Mary West is assistant township manager. Robert Reilly is the zoning officer/building official. Don Lynch is fire marshal. Tony Riccardi is deputy fire marshal. Thomas Medwid is emergency operations coordinator. William O’Connell is deputy emergency operations coordinator.

The Wisler Pearlstine, LLP law firm is the township solicitor. Marc Jonas is the Lower Salford Township Zoning Hearing Board solicitor. Bob Brant is the solicitor for the Uniform Construction Code Appeals Board.

CKS Engineering is the township engineer. McMahon Associates is traffic engineer.

Maillie, LLP is the township’s independent auditor. Conrad Seigel is the pension actuary.

The following reappointments were also approved:

David Bowe and John Kennedy to four-year terms through Dec. 31, 2021 on the Lower Salford Township Planning Commission.

Jim Whiteman to a three-year term through Dec. 31, 2020 on the Lower Salford Township Zoning Hearing Board.

Paul Ehrhart to a three-year term through Dec. 31, 2020 on the Lower Salford Township Police Committee.

Janine Warnas to a five-year term through Dec. 31, 2022 on the Lower Salford Township Park Board.

Barry Bohmueller to a five-year term through Dec. 31, 2022 on the Lower Salford Township Authority.

Manus McHugh and Keith Bergman to annual appointments as Lower Salford representatives to the Indian Valley Regional Planning Commission.

Douglas Gifford to a five-year term through Dec. 31, 2022 on the Lower Salford Township Recreation Authority.

Rick Mast to a five-year term through Dec. 31, 2022 on the Lower Salford Township Industrial Development Authority.

Karl Janetka to a five-year term through Dec. 31, 2022 on the Uniform Construction Code Appeals Board.

Richard Prescott to an annual appointment on the Lower Salford Township Vacancy Board.

Philip Heilman to be the board’s voting delegate at the State Association of Township Supervisors Convention.

The Jan. 2 meeting also included scheduling a conditional use hearing in connection with a proposed new Wawa. The hearing will take place at the Lower Salford Township Board of Supervisors Feb. 7 meeting.

The about 5,000-square-foot store and fueling center with a canopy is planned for the intersection of Main Street (Sumneytown Pike) and a planned extension of Quarry Road in the Mainland Pointe development. The conditional use hearing is for the fueling facility.
