The UT Administration has decided to chalk out a policy for registration of new vehicles at dealer’s point in the city.
The issue was discussed at length during a meeting held under UT Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi to review various projects of UT Registering & Licensing Authority here.
During the meeting, the procedure to be followed up, documents required from the owner of the vehicle, documents required form the dealer, liabilities of the dealer, submission of documents by the dealer for verification at the level of registering authority, fixation of charges/fee to be imposed on the vehicle owner by the dealer, if any and mode of payment of road tax and various charges among other issues were also discussed, said a spokesman of UT Administration.
Following the discussion, it has been decided to that a policy in this regard will be framed accordingly, said the spokesman.
The documents required for the registration of new vehicle will be submitted by the owner of the vehicle as per the checklist issued by the RLA. However, the documents will be verified at the dealer’s point before sending the same to the department for approval.
The hard copy of the complete file submitted by the owner of the vehicle at dealer’s point will be submitted by the dealer to the RLA within two working days for further necessary action, said the spokesman.
The Administration has also decided that adhaar number of the owner of the vehicle will be obtained during registration of new vehicle.
For facilitating the city residents for issuing driving license, the Administration has decided to make online appointment system more efficient. For this, the counters of online appointment will be increased and issuance of token would be made lesser. At the initial stage issuance of 50 token will be affixed, which will be decreased later on at the RLA office.
Apart from this, adhaar card will be mandatory for driving license application.
For assisting the illiterate people, the voice system at STALL (screen test aid for learning license) test will be arranged. Also, a booklet of mock test for preparation of STALL test will be got printed and the same would be enclosed with the learner's form.
At the meeting, it has also been decided that online application submission and online appointment of the driving license would be started at e-Sampark Centers in the city. And, a policy regarding procedure, terms and conditions regarding scrutiny of documents, payment, photo and signature, approval of applications will be framed after getting communication from the Head of the Department, e-Sampark Centers, the spokesman said.
For spreading awareness about traffic rules, the Administration will conduct awareness camps regarding traffic and safety rules, driving skill, road signs for school students in Chandigarh.
