A Milford man was arrested for assault Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, according to a release from Detective Timothy Maloney.
The female victim responded to the Milford Police Department at about 10:13 p.m. Dec. 24 to report a physical altercation that had occurred between her and the suspect, Courtney Goode, 42, of Milford. The investigation revealed that the victim and Goode were engaged in a verbal argument at a residence in the 400 block of South Washington Street. Investigation revealed that Goode then began to push the victim, which caused the victim to fall to the ground; and Goode continued to assault the victim, while they were on the floor. The victim advised that a child was present in the residence and did not see the assault but did hear the assault occur. The victim sustained minor injury due to the assault. Emergency medical services was called to Milford Police Department to exam the victim’s injuries, but the victim declined being transported to the hospital.
Patrol units then responded to the residence on South Washington Street and made contact with Goode and took him into custody without incident. Goode was charged with assault in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child, sight/sound. Goode had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 3 and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $2,000 cash bail. A no contact order was placed between Goode and the victims in this case. Goode was ordered to appear in the Sussex County Family Court at a later date reference to this case.
