The singer has responded to a lawsuit filed by the writers of 3LW’s hit Playas Gon’ Play, who claim she copied their lyrics for her own song, Shake It Off.
Swift wants the case dismissed because the lyrics “The playas gon’ play / Them haters gonna hate” are too short to have legal protection.
Swift’s team believes you cannot copyright the “the idea that players will play and haters will hate”.
It does sound like stating the bleedin’ obvious.
