MCCOMB — Malorie Schroeder went 4 for 4 from the line in overtime and scored six of her game-high 18 points in the extra stanza Thursday as McComb defeated Van Buren 49-45 in a Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball game.
McComb rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit and held Van Buren scoreless in the final three minutes of regulation.
Hannah Schroeder scored 10 points, and Olivia Miehls and Shaye Hemminger added seven points each the Panthers improved to 3-7, 1-4 BVC. Kadalena Duran led McComb with seven rebounds.
Maddie Parker led Van Buren (6-6, 2-4 BVC) with 15 points. Zoe Horne had 13 points, and Faith DeWalt added nine points and a team-best five rebounds.

ARCADIA — Thursday’s bout between Arcadia and Hopewell-Loudon became a one-on-one battle between two of the best posts in the area: Kennedy Pratt and MaKayla Elmore.
The Redskins’ Pratt just slightly outdid her counterpart and Samantha Watkins drained the go-ahead corner jumper with 2.5 seconds left to help Arcadia edge the Chieftains 55-53 in Blanchard Valley Conference action.
Pratt finished with a game-high 30 points on 56.5 percent (13 of 23) shooting, while adding nine rebounds and three steals. Watkins chipped in seven points and five assists for the Redskins (8-2, 4-1) — who moved into a three-way tie for second place in the BVC with Arlington and Leipsic. Liberty-Benton, a 62-55 winner over previously BVC unbeaten Arlington, remains in first at 5-0 in the conference.
Elmore’s 29 points on 50 percent shooting (10 of 20) led H-L. She grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and notched three steals. The Chieftains’ (10-2, 3-2) Kenadee Siebenaller was the only player to score in double figures with 10 points and four boards.

Alivia Light paced the Tigers (6-5, 2-3) with 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals and Katelyn Weinandy scored a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double.
