The 11th annual Dante Anderson Memorial Invitational will be held today and Saturday at Eastside.
The seven games, 14 team-invitational includes six area teams, with two girls games being played on Friday and five boys games on Saturday. There will be three defending state champions in the field — with Leesburg and Fort Lauderdale Dillard in boys, and Orlando Jones in girls.
On Saturday, Williston opens action at 2 p.m. against Longwood Lyman, followed by Orlando Saints Academy-P.K. Yonge (3:30 p.m.), Orlando Inspire Prep-Hawthorne, Dillard-Leesburg (6:30 p.m.) and Auburndale-Eastside (8 p.m.).
On Friday, host Eastside girls will play Orlando Dr. Phillips at 5:30 p.m., followed by Jones-Gainesville at 7 p.m.
The annual invitational serves as a remembrance of former Eastside standout Dante Anderson, who led Rams to a state title and tragically lost his life in a car accident on May 19, 2007.
The event is being put on by Eastside and Florida Prospects.

Girls basketball
Trenton 68, Bronson 27: At Trenton, senior forward Thalia Jackson stuffed the stat sheet for Trenton as the Tigers took care of Bronson with Jackson going for 21 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Junior guard Standrea McHenry had 15 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two blocks for Trenton (9-2, 7-2) while junior guard Bryn Thomas had 12 points and two steals.
Oak Hall 40, St. John Country Day 28: At Oak Hall, senior guard Ayanna Rollins had 30 points and 28 rebounds. Seventh-grader Kate Pickens led the team with three assists and added four points. Oak Hall (4-7) plays today at Lafayette.
