Who says December doesn't mean anything when it comes to the high school wrestling? There were noteworthy accomplishments as 2017 came to and end and even more as 2018 began.

Reaching the century mark
St. Joseph (Mont.) senior Garrett Beam picked up his 100th career win in the final round of the BCAA Holiday Tournament after defeating Anthony Scuito of Northern Highlands by technical fall to win the 182-pound title. Beam spent his first three seasons at Queen of Peace and was a state medalist as a sophomore. Beam finished 27-6 as a junior and reached the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
• Matt Dallara of Hasbrouck Heights also got his 100th win Wednesday in a loss to Pompton Lakes.
• Middletown North's Stanley Wojdylak, the senior 145-pounder, scored his 100th win during the Mustang Classic.

200 wins for Hopewell's Harpel
Mario Harpel, who has turned Hopewell Valley into the dominant team in Mercer County, won his 200th career match Wednesday night when his Bulldogs overpowered West Windsor-Plainsboro North, 60-15. Harpel has a career record of 200-67 at Hopewell Valley. He has led the Bulldogs to nine of the last 10 Mercer County Tournament titles and seven straight. Hopewell Valley has reached the Central Jersey Group 3 final each of the last two seasons. Hopewell Valley recently won the team title at the Bear Invitational at East Brunswick, getting individual titles from Christian Micikas (106), Chiris Lanciano (120), Justin Venezia (160) and Tyler Sobel (170).
