The Mayor has been impeached.

Variety reports that ABC's freshman comedy has been canceled. It has been pulled from from its Tuesday 9:30pm timeslot and has not been rescheduled. Reruns of Modern Family will take its place. Nine episodes of its 13-episode season have aired, and ABC reportedly has no plans to air the remaining four. The series has averaged a 0.8 live-plus-same day rating among adults 18-49 and 2.9 million total viewers.

The series stars Brandon Micheal Hall as a rapper who runs for mayor of his California city as a publicity stunt and ends up winning. Lea Michele co-stars as his chief of staff. Unfortunately, the timeliness of the premise didn't lead to a connection with viewers; it got just a 35 percent favorable rating in TV Guide's Fall Popularity Contest.

The Mayor may pull a Buddy Cianci and come back, though; producers will shop the show around to other to other providers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
