Indian Railways may soon introduce an ‘anti-fog’ device to track railway signals and situation on tracks in North India.
The device will work on the basis of Global Positioning System and will be installed in about 900 trains, said an NDTV report. The railways have ordered around 2,400 pieces of the machinery.
However, officials has distributed over 500 GPS-enabled “FOG PASS” devices in the North Central Railway (NCR), said a Times of India report.
The loco-pilots of about 519 trains from December 15, 2017, started receiving this ‘anti-fog’ device, said the TOI report, adding that 127 devices have been sanctioned in Agra.
The GPS-based Loco Pilot Assistance System device is expected to be placed in the driver’s cabin. Through this device, the driver will have knowledge about the approaching signal, level crossing gate as well as neutral section on the track, the report said. Read More…
