3 sandalwood smugglers nabbed

The Hanumanganj police on Thursday nabbed three miscreants involved in smuggling sandalwood and recovered 130 kg of sandalwood worth Rs 1.2 lakh from their possession.

SP Bhopal (North) Hemant Chouhan while speaking with the media persons on Thursday said that the sandalwood was filled in eight bags which were recovered from a car. The Sandalwood was stolen from Shajapur and the three were on their way to dispose but the details of the disposal are yet to be obtained from the accused.The three have confessed their involvement in crimes in different parts of the State and details of the Sandalwood has been asked from Shajapur for further investigation. During the further investigation more details of the three and their nexus would be revealed, he added.

Acting on a tip off regarding three youths carrying 7-8 bags in car bearing registration number MP04CR9260 near Syndicate bank in Hanumanganj area a police team rushed to the spot and detained the three persons and when the car was searched 8 bags were recovered which were carrying Sandalwood. The three were asked regarding the Sandalwood but the three were not able to provide details regarding the Sandalwood.The three were identified as Mubarik Khan (26) of Shajapur, Tajjudin Khan (26) of Sadar and Tausif Shah (20) of Kannauj Uttar Pradesh.During the investigation police have recovered a car bearing registration number MP 04 CR 9260 in which the Sandalwood was carried.The quantity of the sandalwood was huge which suggest that the accused were involved in the crime for long, said police.
