DUBAI: You will not see the word “Dubai Police” under the new logo, an indication that their performance has hit an “international milestone among security institutions with excellent record in combating crime.”
You will not see moving waves: a “reflection of stability.” The logo will mostly be in green, for rescue teams it will remain red.
Dubai Police unveiled their new logo on Jan.4, bearing similar marks but carrying sublime messages, focusing on three values: security, innovation and connectivity with respect to the Dubai Police, the Emirate and the country’s strategies of 2016-2021; 2021 and 2071 respectively, as stated by the force’s commander.
Maj. Gen. Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri led an ensemble of officers and staff to lower the old flag and hoisted the new one at the General headquarters.
The event was concurrently done at all police stations within the Emirate.
General Al Marri explained that the waves that have been seen in the old logo are now calm and stable, thus reflecting stability, safety and security surrounding the community –“full of happiness and innovative.”
Other elements such as the branches in the old logo have been left in place, but “made widely visible and clear.”
The mast of the boat has been made to stand straight and still, again to “reflect stability and calm environment.”
“SMART. SECURE. TOGETHER”
From Jan.4-9, the police are running awareness messages of their changes that connect them with the public “as ever.”
While the flyers are reading: “Smart, Secure and Together,” the messages rotate around “innovation, security and connectivity.”
According to General Al Marri, “Innovation’ symbolises our immaculate services, while ‘Security’ is (as per our protection of people and their belongings), and ‘Communication’ (symbolising our reach to the public).”
He said that the changes are based on the vision of the Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Last year, Abu Dhabi Police too changed their logos and uniforms.
ENGAGING PUBLIC
The Assistant Commander in charge of Community Happiness and Equipment, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Saeed Al Marri, said that the police will carry out massive marketing of the new identity by engaging the public until Jan.9.
He said that the marketing will encompass marches on the streets of Dubai, staging awareness drives in the shopping malls and other public places.
There will be electronic Golden Gate screens at Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road, at the airports, Dubai Creek, Floating Bridge, Dubai Marina among other areas.
