With more than 33 million passengers and a load factor of 87.5 per cent in 2017 Norwegian has reported it’s highest ever passenger figures in a single year being 3.8 million more than the previous year.
It has launched 54 new routes and a substantial increase of intercontinental traffic which led to its growth.
It delivered 32 brand new aircraft and launched new routes, majorly between Europe and the US.
It also hired approximately 2,000 new staff members, it was reported that the 2017 load factor was 87.5 per cent, compared to 87.7 per cent in 2016.
Norwegian chief executive, Bjørn Kjos, said that 2017 traffic figures reflected their international footprint was growing stronger which was in line with the Norwegian Group’s strategy. Their Scandinavian operation is stable and positive and their long-haul and short-haul networks complemented each other.
Their long-haul networks from the UK and Ireland was well-received by passengers, providing demand for high-quality and affordable travel.
It was reported that Norwegian carried 2,402,005 passengers in December that was up by 12 per cent from the same month last year.
The capacity growth and the traffic growth were 32 per cent while load factor was 84.6 per cent, the same as December 2016.
