RANCHI: The capital is all set to host over 250
specially-abled athletes from 21 states across the country in the
Special Olympics National Cycling Championship to be held in
Ratu from January 5 to January 8.
Male and female contestants will be participating in the national level event at the six lane outer Ring Road from Daladali chowk towards Hazi Chowk.
Assistant Area Director of Jharkhand Special Olympics, Satbir Singh Sahota informed that MLA Gumla, Shiv Shankar Oraon will be flagging off the event on January 5.
"The participants are athletes with mental disabilities and teams have started arriving in Ranchi for the event. We are expecting a participation of over 250 athletes from all over the country." All the athletes are being provided accommodation at Adivasi Bal Vikas Vidyalaya, Ratu.
There are many teamsn from different states including Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and
West Bengal among others, who will be participating in the meet.
Officials of the Jharkhand Special Olympics chapter are also expected to be present on the occasion.
The selected candidates from the National level event in Ranchi will qualify for Special Olympics World Summer Game in
Abu Dhabi between March 14 and March 21 in 2019.
