Purchase handloom products and honour poor people: CM

By purchasing the handloom products one honours the labour done by the  poor of the country ,said the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat while visiting the National Handloom expo held at Parade Ground here on Thursday. He said that handloom industry provides employment to about 65 lakh people and is second largest employment generating sector after agriculture in the Country. The CM said that on interaction, the weavers attending the expo informed that they are attending the event from last many years which shows that people here appreciate their products.

 He said that the appeal of  Narendra Modi that every Indian must have one pair of Khadi clothes has increased the sale of Khadi.  The Chief Minister released a calendar “ Himadri’ and inaugurated theme pavilion on the occasion.

The director Industry, Sudhir Nautiyal informed that weavers and artisans from 14 states and 46 handloom committees of U’khand are participating in the event. Rajpur road MLA Khajan Das, Secretary Saujanya , BJP leader Sunil Uniyal Gama and others were present on the occasion.
