Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that since the identity of Azamgarh was under threat, his government would change the face of the district by making it as a ‘model of development’ so that people outside Uttar Prdesh could talk highly of the city.

Yogi was speaking at a function after inaugurating a molasses plant in Sathiyawan sugar mill in Azamgarh on Thursday. He also inaugurated 48 projects worth Rs 212 crore and laid the  foundation stone of 113 projects worth Rs 340 crore.

“In recent times, Azamgarh has come to be known as a nursery of criminals. This should end. And this will end only if you give employment to the youth. A beginning has been made as the government has pumped in money to make Sathiyawan sugar mill operational,” Yogi said.

The Chief Minister said that the mill was closed due to paucity of funds and his government provided Rs 56 crore to make it operational. “The government has cleared cane dues worth Rs 7000 crore. At this point of time 116 mills are in operation and three more mills which were closed down will start operation soon,” he said.

“The BJP government has also initiated the process to speed up industrialization in the state. A big ‘Investment Meet’ is planned in February which will be participated by top industrialists across the state and other countries. Recently road shows were held in Delhi, Bangaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai and the response was very encouraging. The focus of our government is to generate employment in the state and we are working in this direction.,” the Chief Minister said.

Yogi said that the government was able to prepare investment climate in the state due to of improvement in law and order. Criminals have either been killed or arrested. Impetus has also been given to improve infrastructure. Therefore the quality of roads and electricity has also improved,” he said.

Hitting out at previous statet governments, Yogi said that Samajwadi Party did nothing for the welfare of farmers. “Paddy purchase has been over 30 lakh tone this year which was just 7 lakh tone in the last regime.  The government waived off crop loans of over 86 lakh farmers and over 11 lakh families have got house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. By 2020 all the people in UP will have thir own houses,” he said.

Sugar Cane development minister Suresh Rana also spoke on this occasion. Later, the CM left for Varanasi where he will halt for the night. On Friday, Yogi will go to Delhi and on Saturday, visit Meerut before flying to Bengaluru on Sunday.
