In view of biting cold conditions persisting across the State, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Thursday directed the deputy commissioners to personally ensure that no person, whether homeless or otherwise, sleeps in the open or on the road.
All deputy commissioners must ensure that roads and open areas in their districts are closely inspected by senior officers during the night with immediate effect, said the Chief Minister.
The inspecting officers should carry with them sufficient number of blankets to make sure that during the process of shifting every such person to the nearest night shelter, he or she is adequately protected against the cold, directed the Chief Minister.
Manohar Lal also asked them to ensure that all night shelters are in perfect order. Apart from this, they should keep local MLAs and Ministers informed of these steps, and seek their guidance, support and participation. The Deputy Commissioner Panipat, has been told to assist other DCs who may approach him for ensuring immediate availability of adequate number of blankets.
In view of the dense fog in the state, the government has appealed to the people to drive carefully at national highways and district link roads besides paying special attention to cat eye and reflectors on road, and iron bars on risky turns.
Minister Rao Narbir Singh informed that the government is also expediting repair works on roads. ‘Harpath Haryana App’ has been launched.
, on which anyone could register complaints related to poor condition roads. Action on such complaints would be taken within 96 hours, added he.
