Mourinho looked less-than-impressed as he returned to the Lowry Hotel after training on Wednesday afternoon.
The Manchester United boss is reportedly becoming more withdrawn among his coaching team while there is a growing concern he could resign at the end of the season.
The Daily Mail claim staff at Old Trafford see Mourinho as an increasingly detached figure, with the Portuguese manager still refusing to move into a house in Manchester and continually spending more time travelling to and from London.
The frequency of the 54-year-old’s trips home are causing alarm, while Mourinho has been outspoken about the board’s apparent reluctance to spend in the transfer market – despite shelling out nearly £300million since he arrived at the club.
However, the Daily Telegraph today revealed the former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss has held contract talks with United over an extension to his current deal, with the Red Devils keen to retain Mourinho's services.
The United manager was seen looking stoney-faced as he arrived back at the Lowry Hotel yesterday evening, and will be keen to get a result against Derby tomorrow to help ease the scrutiny on his position.
