Srinagar, Jan 4: Security forces on Thursday foiled an infiltration bid from across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and killed an intruder in the process. A terrorist managed to escape. The infiltration bid was foiled in Jammu and Kashmir’s Arina sector. The intruder was neutralized at around 7:00 am.

Border Security Force (BSF) personnel noticed the movement of a group of 4-5 terrorists near the barbed wire fence under the cover of thick fog and opened fire killing one of them. The area has been cordoned off. Further details are awaited.

The infiltration bid came barely a few hours after Pakistani Rangers resorted to firing along the international border in Samba and Hiranagar sectors on Wednesday evening. A BSF head constable R.P. Hazra was killed in the ceasefire violation.

In September last year, two armed intruders were killed after the Indian army foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector.
