PANAJI: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Samittee, Goa state, has demanded resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of killing of youth at Bhima-Koregaon in Pune recently.
Addressing the media, the Samittee members said that atrocities, attacks, ill-treatment and killings due to caste need to be stopped. “We (Ambedkar Samittee) will not tolerate such things in the country and retaliate against it in future,” they said.
They also alleged that certain forces are active in fuelling communal violence and perpetrating atrocities against people from lower castes.
They demanded immediate arrest of culprits in Koregaon incident. “We are all one regardless of caste, creed and religion. Instead of fighting amongst ourselves, we should fight atrocities and caste-based attacks,” they said.
They noted that usually there used to be police protection for commemoration of 1818 Battle of Koregaon in Pune but this time there was no such thing. They said they will celebrate 200th anniversary of the Battle of Koregaon vigorously. Dadu Mandrenkar, Chaya Korgaonkar were among the prominent speakers on the occasion.
