Death in Paradise season 7: Viewers baffled over star's bizarre habit - did you notice it?
DEATH IN PARADISE viewers were left scratching their heads during tonight’s instalment of the BBC series as DI Jack Mooney tried to work out how a hotel billionaire’s fiancé was killed.
In the first episode, Diane Smith (played by Elizabeth Berrington) was seen falling from her hotel balcony in a suspected suicide.
But, DI Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) believed that she had actually been murdered and launched a full investigation.
However, as he interviewed Diane’s fiance Philip Marston (Denis Lawson) and his children, viewers were distracted by one of their bizarre habits.
Many were quick to question why Pearl (Tanya Reynolds) was using the word “totes” in almost every sentence.

“Deffo and totes. Is that really what posh people talk like, or just a way the writers have written the character so we hate her? #DeathInParadise,” one viewer questioned.
While another added: “I’m so glad #DeathInParadise is back, but a) it’s taken me down a black hole in remembering where one of the actresses is from (the excellent series As If), and b) no one actually says ‘totes’ in real life.”
A third continued: “The writers of #DeathInParadise do realise that young people don't use the word "totes". In fact nobody has for at least 10 years…”

“Seriously does anyone say "totes" anymore? #DeathInParadise,” someone else wrote.
A fifth meanwhile had clearly become infuriated as they simply tweeted: “TOTES!!! STOP!!! #DeathInParadise.”
It was later revealed that Pearl was one of the culprits along with her sister Karen (Jemima Rooper) and brother Stephen (Rob Heaps), and had simply wanted to stop Diane’s wedding to their father.
Death in Paradise continues Thursday on BBC One at 9pm.
