Anthony Scaramucci stood by remarks he made this summer about former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, which played a role in his ouster from the White House staff, after President Trump slammed Bannon for making disparaging comments about his habits and family in a new book excerpt.
I said what I said in the Summer take out the expletives and pay closer attention. Btw, @realDonaldTrump is doing a great job.— Anthony Scaramucci (@Scaramucci) January 3, 2018
Trump tore into Bannon Wednesday after an excerpt from "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" by Michael Wolff was released where the former chief strategist made denigrating comments about the president.
"Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind," Trump said in a statement released by the White House on Wednesday. "Steve was a staffer who worked for me after I had already won the nomination by defeating seventeen candidates, often described as the most talented field ever assembled in the Republican party."
Scaramucci was ousted as White House communications directer after less than two weeks for giving a profanity-filled interview to NY Mag reporter Ryan Lizza where he attacked other White House aides.
"I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock,” Scaramucci said. “I’m not trying to build my own brand off the fucking strength of the President. I’m here to serve the country."
Scaramucci also told the Independent Journal Review in October that Bannon had “white nationalist tendencies.”
