A former Casper Re-Entry Center employee has acknowledged that she had a sexual relationship with an inmate.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports that Andrea Morgan pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual assault on Wednesday. She had a second-degree count of sexual assault dropped as part of her plea deal.
Morgan's attorney and prosecutors agreed to recommend that she serve three years of supervised probation in lieu of a two-to-four year prison sentence. The plea deal also allows for prosecutors to argue at sentencing for Morgan to spend time at Casper Re-Entry Center.
The center is a private company that the Wyoming Department of Corrections contracts with to provide rehabilitation and substance abuse treatment to inmates before they are released from custody. Morgan was an employee there until March 2016.
